Rescue Mission and Community Involvement

Chad Breinholt Music Fund

In 2017, Chad met Jimmy B, someone that would change his life. Jimmy is a special sort of guy who dedicates his life to ministry and sharing the Word. He had a special connection with Chad through their shared love of music and Jesus Christ. Jimmy introduced Chad to the Rescue Mission. The wonderful Rescue Mission of Salt Lake provides food, counseling, and shelter for the homeless community. They have a faith-based New Life Recovery Program that provides a pathway off the streets and into sobriety, employment, and stable housing. Chad was blessed enough to secure a place in the program the day he walked in. If you have ever been in a homeless shelter to serve or receive services, you know it is a very hard place to be. Chad told me it was the hardest program he’d been in because they gave you the freedom to make your own choices: either come or go, but if you stay then “mean it”. Chad wasn’t forced to stay but he knew it was where he belonged. He met the most wonderful people at the Rescue Mission and connected with everyone and made so many friends. It was at the Rescue Mission that he met his best friend Zack who was like a brother to Chad.

We’ve had so much support and love from family and friends. A group of friends in Chicago started a fund to raise $8,000 for the Chad Breinholt Music Fund for the Rescue Mission of Salt Lake. The fund is being used to purchase instruments and help residents discover and develop musical talents in the form of music therapy. It was Chad’s dream to help others through music therapy. Chad supported many different community events and even met some governors and senators along the way.
